Pink V. Christina, Miley V. Selena & More! Check Out Which Pop Stars Stayed Good — And Who Went So, So Bad

There must be something in the water. It seems half of our favorite pop stars excel in the spotlight, while the other 50% fall apart at the seams! Most recently, Christina Aguilera divorced her hubby, got a younger beau and then was arrested for being drunk in public. Interestingly enough, another longtime princess of pop, Pink, is pregnant with her first child and is happily married — and she’s just as surprised at her clean cut image as we are!

“Out of Myself, Britney, and Christina- didn’t everyone think I was gonna be the troublemaker? LOOK MA!!! No CUFFS!!!” the 31-year-old singer tweeted March 1.

HollywoodLife.com consulted with Los Angeles-based psychotherapist Dr. Jenn Berman about how being a child star, like Christina, Miley Cyrus and even Mandy Moore affects everyone differently.

“It can affect them in many different ways, both positive and negative,” she told us. “The positive way is that kids who are child performers have a great sense of self advocacy, sense of mastery and independence. It can give them unique opportunites that they otherwise would not get to have.”

She added, “It can teach a strong work ethic at a young age and enhance self-esteem.”

Good girls such as Selena Gomez and Mandy have been fortunate to pull many of the positive aspects of being in the spotlight at a young age, while others haven’t been as lucky.

“The negatives of being a child star are that sometimes kids are given a premature sense of responsibility and or a financial burden to help their family,” Dr. Berman explained. “Often times they have a lot of people around who are catering to their needs, which can create a sense of entitlement and narcissism.”

In cases where it seems being in the spotlight is rubbing someone the wrong way, Dr. Berman suggests one-on-one therapy to help the troubled star get back on track.

Do you think bad girls like Christina and Miley have an edge over clean cut pop starlets like Selena? Do their wild antics make them more interesting, and thus more successful? Or is it stressful watching your faves derail? Sound off below.
